How Did Nomad Fly Fishing Begin?
My name is Zach Lazzari and I am an angler, guide, author and amateur photographer. I am also the owner and operator of this website!
The Author with a Nice Fish I avoid the "trout bum" cliche because at times, the "bum" part feels a little too real. I began fly fishing at the age of 12 with a lesson from my wrestling coach, Doug Ouellette. Unbeknown to me, Doug would turn out to be one of the best anglers I would ever meet and a future mentor in the sport. I definitely received a fortunate beginning and with the support of my my family and friends have managed to enjoy a fishing rich lifestyle for over a decade.
I was raised chasing big brown trout in the Truckee River through Reno, Nevada and the trophy Lahontan cutthroat trout in Pyramid Lake. The northern Sierras provided a wonderful beginning and after several years of skipping classes to be on the water, I began a guiding position for the Sportsman Outdoors in Lake City, CO. I worked the amazing Colorado trout waters for three years before beginning a general migration north to Montana. Although the migration has been interrupted by guiding jobs in Alaska and other adventures, the northern Rockies are becoming a place of permanent residence.
Why Did I Start This Website? I began this website with the idea of providing a large amount of quality information to new and experienced anglers. The internet has changed the way we exchange information and by providing a few tips and valuable articles, more people may enter the sport and carry on the long-lived traditions we enjoy as anglers. I also created this website to gain some exposure and connect with the outside world as I establish a variety of services in the fly fishing industry. I hope you enjoy the website and find the material useful and entertaining.Tight Lines, Zach Lazzari
